Black Butterfly Tailoring

Bridal Alterations

First Appointment

We recommend that you bring your wedding dress together with your shoes and undergarment to us at your earliest convenience. At your first appointment we will discuss your requirement regarding your wedding dress, pin it if necessary and advise you of costs. If you are pleased with the costs and decide to proceed with your wedding dress alterations we will keep your dress and agree a suitable date with you for your first fitting. This helps you from having to transport your wedding dress and eliminate the risk of accidentally damage it.

Fittings

Prior to your wedding you have to come in our Nottingham based workshop on pre-agreed fitting dates. We have vast experience in wedding dress making and alterations and you can discuss all your wedding dress alterations needs with a professional dressmaker and tailor at the same time. The complexity of the alterations required will determine the number of fittings. If you are completely satisfied with the quality of our alterations service you can collect your ready wedding dress on your last appointment.

Costs

All fittings including the consultation are free of charge. We only charge for the work we perform on your wedding dress and you only pay for the work we agree to do. We will not charge you again if you try your wedding dress and it still does not fit perfectly after our alteration. You have to be confident that our wedding dress alterations are performed to the highest possible standard with   meticulous attention to detail. Working together with professional dressmaker and tailor will eliminate the risk of your wedding dress being damaged.

Whether we make your perfect gown, adding a lace up back, creating a dreamy veil or stitching a stunning belt perfectly in place to complete the look of your dreamed wedding dress – take it in, let it out, or even raising the hem line – our ability to work to perfect finish will make your look amazing.

Timing Is Everything

It's important to plan your wedding dress and bridesmaid dress alterations right. Bring it in too early, and you might not end up with a perfect fit. You may lose or gain weight after your wedding dress is altered, which could spoil the overall look and fit. Bring it in too late, and we will be pressured by time to complete all the alterations you need. Allowing two to three months from the time of your first fitting will give us plenty of time to complete all the alterations on your wedding dress.

Who to Bring?

You might want to have your mom, another trusted relative, or friend accompany you to your fittings, just for another set of eyes and another reliable opinion.
